Oilove is a family-owned business started by hard-working individuals, with professional backgrounds in statistics and engineering. In 2014, the Armyros family embarked on the Oilove journey, inspired by their belief in pure, unadulterated, organic extra virgin olive oil’s role in the Mediterranean diet. They spent much of the last decade researching different olive cultivars, extraction methods, and reading literature on EVOO’s health properties.
Oilove’s first organic EVOOs were produced from family groves in Astros (Arcadia), and Tolofon (Fokida) of Greece. Quality is always our main goal, while quantity is secondary. Encouraged by winning various international awards, we planted more young trees alongside the old, and made improvements on the watering system in some fields. At Oilove we are always looking for ways to improve field maintenance and production techniques, more recently with the emphasis on grafting, irrigation, and expansion. For example, some of our groves in Arcadia have centuries-old Megaritiki olive trees that produce little fruits, so we grafted the Koroneiki variety onto the old trunks, and the new variety on old trunks are growing vigorously. Oilove intends to gather farming and production statistics that can be used to improve sustainable production methods and share our experiences. We hope to bring the Greek olive oil community closer. We also put emphasis in smart farming techniques for improving cultivation programs using science and technology.
Building on the progress and success of our organic EVOO products, we enrich our portfolio with new items such as naturally fermented table olives of locally well-known varieties such as Kalamon and Plum olives, and handmade soap using herbs and spices from our fields. At Oilove we strive to make a perfect organic extra virgin olive oil, so you can cherish the best of what the ancient Greek poet Homer called “liquid gold”.
